Nearly 46,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. That’s one person every 11 minutes. And just over 12,000 die from it. Every year. Together we can help to change that.
Breast Cancer Care has been running the Strawberry Tea campaign since 1998. Last year £400,000 was raised with over 1,600 Strawberry Tea events taking place during the summer. This year I thought it would be really wonderful if the food blogging community and food industry could get involved. We can help out by running our own strawberry teas all over the country, perhaps bring cakes into work or run raffles. You can all get involved and hold an event, no matter how small or big, whether it’s a strawberry tea you hold in your living room for your neighbours or you run a village fete in aid of the campaign.
Most of us will know of someone who has been affected by breast cancer, either someone who has directly been affected or someone who’s mother, cousin, best friend, wife, daughter has been affected. My aunt who I love dearly has recently been given the all-clear having battled with it and it is thanks to organisations such as breast cancer care that she has. I want to do my bit to help more people survive.
Please help to spread the word on your blogs, Facebook pages and Twitter, etc. Between us we really can make a difference.
Think this is a great idea Julia. Would love to hold some sort of event. Don’t know if I’ll be able to manage it, but something might be possible later in the summer.
Love the sound of strawberry tea Julia, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and is fine now but I do what I can to help raise money for breast cancer research so will look into organising a tea while strawberries are at their peak. Perhaps you can come along? Sig x
An excellent cause, very close to my heart. Thanks for spreading the word.

Choclette, Sig – that would be absolutely fantastic and Sig I’d love to come along!
KSalty – it is a very good cause, isn’t it? I really hope we can all rally round and raise lots of money. And of course, what fun too; I love cream teas!
Even though I don’t live in the UK I’d like to participate with the post in the brand new blog I have in mind
