Last Tuesday morning as I arrived at the office bright and early for a meeting first thing my colleagues greeted me with expectant looks and smiles. I was momentarily taken aback; could this mean what I thought it meant? 'Is it here?' I squealed. I hadn't been expecting it until at least midday. They indicated to a package that had been waiting on my chair. It was here. I picked up the package and sat down. As I held it in my hands I paused, holding my breath. This was it; after years of hard work I would finally hold my own book in my hands. The nervous anticipation I'd had for weeks came rushing back to me; the fine line between excitement and sheer terror blurring as it does when your car ascends the rollercoaster ride and your knuckles whiten as you get closer to the top before the sharp drop. With heart in mouth I opened the package and pulled out the hardback book inside. I ran my fingers over the cover and read the words 'A Slice of Cherry Pie'. I beamed.

While I was in Ludlow I paid a visit to the Ludlow Food Centre which, as I found out, is a real treasure trove for anyone who loves good food. It's packed full of fresh, seasonal, local produce, 80% of which is sourced from the local area of Shropshire and the surrounding counties of Herefordshire, Powys and Worcestershire. Not only that, but over 50% of the stock is produced or packaged on site right there at the centre. These items are clearly identifiable by a sticker carrying the centre's logo; a diamond representing the four local counties where most of the produce comes from. Read more.

Rob and I have just returned back from a 4 day break in Poole, in Dorset, on the South coast of England. We stayed at Sandbanks, a narrow peninsula stretching into Poole Harbour with a gorgeous stretch of sandy beach which continues into Bournemouth. The location really is quite idyllic. If I could, I'd buy a holiday home there; all I'd need is a little patience, once I'd signed onto the waiting lists of the many estate agents in the area, and several million pounds to spare. The area isn't known as Britain's Monte Carlo for nothing, you know! Read post
