The Ultimate Hot Chocolate
September 4th, 2006
I’ve tried a lot of hot chocolate drinks. Cadburys, Green & Black’s, Galaxy, Charbonnel & Walker. They have their place but for the ultimate in luxury you can’t beat the real thing.
Simply melt squares of your favourite chocolate in a pan of warm milk. Add a dash of brandy or your favourite liquor for a grown-up version. Try whipped cream and grated chocolate for decadence, cinnamon for spice, honey or vanilla sugar for nursery sweetness, or even a dash of orange flower water for scent.
Sit back and enjoy.

Sounds yummy. Love that dark chocolate myself, nearly pure cocoa. It’s supposed to be good for you, too!

You are so right Julia, non of instant chocolates can compare to the real thing. When I was a child there was a place nearby selling ice cream during summer months and hot chocolate & donuts during winter… I still did not find chocolate that would taste like the one from this place… I will try your recipe, maybe that is how they were making it… !

Now that’s a mighty fine idea on a snowy day like today! I have some great 70% Amedei Toscano Black that would do – maybe some vanilla cream on top and I’m sure I have a bag of marshmallows at the back of the larder!
